The Lash Extension Aftercare Guide

A beautiful set is only half the story. How you care for your lashes in the days and weeks that follow decides whether they last three weeks or six.

1. Keep them dry for the first day

Adhesive needs around 24 hours to cure completely. For that first day, avoid water, steam rooms, saunas and heavy sweating. After that, water is your friend, not your enemy.

2. Cleanse — yes, really

The biggest myth in lash care is that you shouldn't wash extensions. In fact, gentle daily cleansing removes oil, makeup and the natural debris that shortens retention. Use a foaming lash cleanser and the soft brush we send you home with.

3. Brush every morning

A quick sweep with a clean spoolie keeps lashes aligned and prevents them from crossing as they grow. Ten seconds is all it takes.

4. Sleep on your back where you can

Side and stomach sleeping crush lashes against the pillow, causing them to bend or shed early. A silk pillowcase helps reduce friction if back-sleeping isn't for you.

5. Skip oil-based products near the eyes

Oils dissolve lash adhesive. Check that your cleanser, makeup remover and moisturiser are oil-free around the lash line.

6. Put down the waterproof mascara

With a good set you shouldn't need mascara at all — but if you do, use a water-based formula on the tips only, never waterproof, which is almost impossible to remove without tugging.

7. Resist the urge to pick

Pulling at a loose extension takes your natural lash with it. If one is bothering you, book a quick fix rather than removing it yourself.

8. Book infills on time

Every two to three weeks keeps a set looking full. Leave it too long and you'll need a new set instead of a top-up.

9. Feed your natural lashes

A conditioning lash serum keeps the lashes underneath healthy, which in turn helps your extensions hold. Ask us which formulas play nicely with adhesive.
